Happy Mondays

Happy Mondays

It’s mid-June and a Monday, my day started very grey and with a very long to-do list.

“Love what you do and you’ll never work a day in your life” Owning an Independent shop had always been a dream,  I knew the reality was never going to be easy but as in all things some days are easier than others.

Within an hour of opening I’d had two lovely neighbouring Gandy Street Indie shop owners pop into say hello and give me a hug, now I was smiling.  The day unfolded as the visitors came. A lovely couple from Brisbane, Australia revisiting the South West after emigrating over 30 years ago, a group of Spanish students looking for local gifts for their parents.  Visitors asking where to go, where to lunch, locals chatting as they browsed, people came and more stories were shared. I particularly loved helping find the perfect gift for one of our Moko regulars, she’d been tasked to buy the “something new” for her sister’s wedding, a big responsibility so I gift wrapped it with a safety pin, just in case the Bride chose to wear it discreetly! Wedding outfits, graduation gifts for parents to say thank you and even two visitors who proudly announced they were Christmas Shopping!  #unbelievablyorganised

Moko always brings the happy and that’s why despite grey starts and long lists, when people love what you do and you love doing it never quite seems like work.
